Does you your pool have stains? So did our customer’s, Alexsis. When she called us, she had tried everything to get the stains out herself. She tried brushing, using different stain removal products, and even considered having the pool completely resurfaced even though the plaster was only 5 years old. Thankfully, she called us and we were able to go out and evaluate the pool. Because the water had gotten dense with dissolved solids due to poor water chemistry, algae was able to grow no matter how much chlorine her current pool service company kept dumping in. It was an uphill battle, to say the least. The best course of action was to get the bad water out and take the stains head on. We dropped a sump pump in the deep end and ran the discharge hose to the sewer clean out, draining the pool. Next, we covered the walls with a mild chemical/soap solution in order to bleach out the indelible algae stains. After massaging it in with a brush and some elbow grease, we power washed it away. Voila! The pool surface was already looking a hundred times better. We repeated this process a second time for good measure. Once the new water was added, we decided to make sure that the algae wouldn’t return by properly balancing the chemistry and cleaning the filters. Needless to say, Alexsis hired us as her new pool service company and her pool has been looking fantastic ever since!
